3rd Biannual Meeting and Training Week 4

The ENeA SEA platform goes live!

3rd Biannual Meeting and 4th Training Week (Mahidol University, Bangkok, 27th Oct-1st Nov 2018)

Hosted by Mahidol University

Unlike previous meetings which started on a weekday, the 3rd Biannual Meeting began on a Saturday. A half-day public symposium titled “Proper nutrition during the first 1,000 days for healthy and prosperous future” comprised three informative keynote addresses on Vitamin D, micronutrient deficiencies and the importance of good early nutrition.

Then, the official launch of the ENeA SEA platform was initiated with a push of a giant on-screen button by representatives from the ENEA SEA project and Mahidol University, symbolizing the partnership between the project and local partners in reaching this milestone. The platform was now available to users, promising to deliver high-quality curricula on early nutrition tailored to Southeast Asia to anyone! The prestigious Ramathibodhi Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University was the venue for consortium meetings over the next few days. Mahidol celebrated the progress by allowing each partner time to share lessons learnt; Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s sharing stood out with their poignant and nostalgic photo presentation.

Now that the ENeA SEA platform was live, there was focus on dissemination of the website. Discussions focused on how to disseminate the platform to local users, engage relevant health policy makers and training institutes and incorporate the module into lectures.

The final module on Complementary Feeding was also on the agenda. Led by Chulalongkorn University, this is a new module written by the Thai and Malaysian partners. The process of content writing and instructional design went well, thanks to the experience gathered from adapting the ENeA Global modules.

Training on the last day of the meeting was a mix of hands-on (interactive media design using iPads- Dr Helmi Norman, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia), ‘feet-on’ (introduction to line-dancing, led enthusiastically by Assc Prof Umaporn Suthutvoravut, Mahidol University), and conceptual ‘head-on’ activities (concepts of Interactive Design taught by Sujitraporn Ratanarom, Mahidol University & Dr Gabriel Gutu, Universitat Politechnica Bucharest).
